Book Shelfie

Standard

It is a lazy Sunday afternoon, and I just walked in my office. I stop to admire my bookshelves, which I have recently gotten cleaned and organized. None of my friends get how fun it is to play with the books, rearranging them and making room for Β new additions. If I am weird, then I don’t want to be normal. πŸ˜‰

A view of my floor to ceiling book shelf. Lots of books and lots of geekery.

I try to keep it organized the best I can. By that I mean I like hardcovers all on one shelf. What irks me most is when I can’t put all of one author on one shelf. My Stephen King paper backs are on one, and the hardcovers are on another. I know, I know. #Bookwormproblems.

One of my Sons of Anarchy plushies Mr. C gave me for Christmas. There was no way I wasn’t adding them to the shelf.

During the holidays, when I had the chance to look at some book themed blogs, I noticed a lot of people had mini lights to make their shelves festive. I plan on doing that soon, just for the fun of it. I figure it will make my cave a bit more cozy at night.

My SOA plush dolls chillin among my books.

One thing I really had to do when I cleaned this up was get rid of junk laying about and stacking them properly. Things got messy with my cheap library sale finds. As you can see, I have plenty of room for new additions. πŸ˜‰

Jack Skellington, Sally and even Sam Winchester sit atop keeping watch.

I have never owned a shelf this big before. When we found out we were moving into this house, and Mr.C brought me over, my eyes popped out of my head. It is by far my favorite thing in our home. I know other people have bigger and better, but to me, my books and shelf are perfect. It holds all of my favorite things and offers many places to escape to.

What things are on your shelf, aside from books? Does your get messy with new books shoved in, or is that just me? πŸ˜‰

My bookshelves no longer can hold all my books. I’m graduating in the spring, so whenever I move out for real I’ll be taking all my books with me and my brother’s job will be to find new shelves on craigslist/Goodwill. I sort mostly by how much I like a book (ones I reread being the easiest to get to and see) and then I tend to group series all together in one section and the rest is chaos. *I* can find everything I need to, but for someone else to try to… good luck.

I am sure you will find some great shelves for cheap! Well, your brother will πŸ˜‰ There are plenty out there in good shape and a cheap price. When I moved into my home, the books were the biggest issue yet my most prized possessions. My fiance would “joke” about getting rid of them. He is lucky I didn’t hurt him πŸ˜‰ And I know what you mean. I know where everything is, in my organized mess. My faves and the ones I re-read are on top and up front. Those I need to read or not on my fave list is farther down.

PRETTY! I kinda want to visit you, and then never leave. Would that be OK? πŸ˜‰ I am such a hoarder and always make such a mess of everything, so the only way for me to keep my home in anything resembling order is to get all my books from the library, so I can give them back after reading (… it hurts a little, every time)

Oh gosh, i know that feeling! But whenever I get a book from the library and fall in love with it…I buy it soon as I can. I just can’t help myself πŸ˜› And thanks for saying my shelf is pretty! Sure, you can visit hehe πŸ˜‰

  3. I have mostly books on my shelves, since there isn’t much room for anything else. And yes, my shelves get incredibly messy whenever I buy new books. I’ll put them wherever there is space!

Emily’s bookshelves are now arranged by colour! No good for those who are obsessive about keeping series or authors together, but it does look VERY COOL! πŸ™‚

  5. I had an uncle with down syndrome who did beautiful wood work, he made my parents a dining room table and a book shelf and I was lucky enough to score those when I moved out!! Both are as old or older than me! My shelf is a terrible mess right now, but now that I’m looking at it..this might be my morning project!! And sitting atop my shelf in my collection of beer glasses I’ve brought home from Europe over the years!

That’s awesome you got to have such beautiful work in your home, made better by the fact it was made by your uncle. πŸ™‚ Did you end up cleaning up your shelf this morning? That is so cool you’ve collected beer glasses from Europe! πŸ˜€
