My ‘The Walking Dead’ Obsession and Newest Autograph

Standard

I’m a fangirl, plain and simple. I don’t care how old I get, I will always be one.

I have been obsessed with the world of ‘The Walking Dead’ when my fiance got me addicted to it the first season. Two years ago the reason we went to Fan Expo Toronto was because I REALLY wanted to meet Norman Reedus, aka Daryl Dixon. That’s what spurred it on. With me saying “Ohhhh my God we have to goooooooo!” 😉 I got to meet four actors that year, and three last year. (So all in all, Daryl. Merle, Glenn, Maggie, Andrea, Michonne, and The Governor.)

And TWD merchandise is always on gift lists. And every Sunday during the season, we never miss an episode. My phone gets turned off and I want zero distractions. (Although Mr. C would say I am a distraction since I get verbal when I talk to the screen. Good thing he can put up with me.)

So that brings me to my next bit of news. I have yet to meet Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes. But writing fan mail has yet again paid off!

‘To Kerry, Big Zombie Love.’ My favorite one this year!

I am very stoked with my newest addition. I gave up a bit on getting one. Mr. C got two out of three since he wrote to three addresses available for Andrew. So when he got two back and I got none, I figured that third address was a dud. But apparently not!

Do you watch The Walking Dead? Who is your fave character?

Happy Mail! New Autograph!

Standard

So this morning I went to my post office and checked my little mailbox. It was empty. So I went inside the office with my three letters to mail off to some kick ass Canadian ladies when one of the workers said “Oh there’s an envelope for you out back.”

I didn’t get too excited right away. This is often said to me when Mr.C has something as well. But when I seen her coming out with a big envelope with my name on it, I inwardly squeeeed.

After mailing off my letters, I took my envelope and on my way to the car I opened it. And that’s when I squeeed out loud.

I’m going to have to hide this from my friends. 😉

I was very stoked to find this autograph from Channing Tatum, who I wrote to almost a year ago I do believe. So worth the wait! 😉

This Isn’t My Real Face: Writing As Someone Else

Standard

I love to journal and it is one of those things I have gotten away from this year. I love this idea of writing as one of my characters. I have one character in mind, and this will help me get into his mind set. Plus it sounds really fun!

Bare Knuckle Writer

HI.

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve gone back to my journalling ways*, partially as a writing aid, mostly as a brain and mental health aid. Surprise: I’ve got some faulty wiring upstairs. Who’s shocked? Anyone?

Anyway, I thought I’d share the other, less well-adjusted side to my journalling: about half the time, I journal as someone else.

This isn’t as insane as it sounds. Well, it probably is, but since I’m a writer I can get away with that shit.

Most of the time*** I write as one of my characters, in an effort to get inside their weaselly little brains and make me understanding of them more complete. This works because:

1) People write shit in their journals that they’d never tell anyone.

2) While they’re not always honest, they do present the facts as they see them. Other opinions matter less.

3) Often I can work out…

A New Autograph and Fandom Friday!!

Standard

Well as promised, I said I’d be back this week with my first ever Fandom Friday!! The first theme is childhood movies.

Since I was unable to post earlier in the week, I’m bringing a bunch of geekiness to this post.

I was surprised tonight by a piece of mail. Mr. C thought it would be funny to hide my newest big brown envelope for awhile. I couldn’t be mad long when I opened it to find this!

Hugh Jackman!!

I am a big fan of this guy and Wolverine is my most favorite character from the X-Men comics. So I am pretty stoked to have gotten this today! Yay!

My first Fandom Friday theme  was inspired when I was sick earlier in the month. When I had the flu from hell, I spent a few days on my sofa, watching some of my favorites growing up. Movies that I still watch on a regular basis. I have a lot of them so for today’s random movie list I am picking five of my faves!

#1: The Princess Bride

TPB

Princess Buttercup and Westly.

This movie is a classic, and has a little bit of everything. Fencing, true love, revenge, to name just a few. I can safely say that Westly was my first ever crush and love. What’s not to like about a handsome and rugged man hurrying to rescue and be with his true love? I’ve watched this movie hundreds of times.

#2- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

TMNT

Old school turtles are the best!!

These old school turtles are way better then the new ones. I wish that they had kept these costumes, I’m not even kidding. I grew up obsessed with these lovable dudes. (And even dressed as Michelangelo for Halloween when I was 10.) It’s actually been awhile since I watched these, so that’s going up high on my to do list.

#3- Harry and The Hendersons

Harry-and-the-Hendersons

One of the first movies I fell in love with. Right after The Princess Bride.

I was about seven when I watched this for the first time. And I am pretty sure that Harry is the reason why I began to love and learn about myths and legends. This movie is too cute with some laughs and a few feels.

#4- Lady Hawke

Ladyhawke-ladyhawke-21708576-1024-768

I always was a sucker for romance.

Not only did I love the setting of this movie, I loved the magic and even at ten years old, I loved romance. Especially when the two were torn apart and couldn’t be together. When you love someone, you can overcome anything. Even when it seems impossible.

#5- Star Wars

Star-Wars-Episode-IV-A-Ne-004

A badass team.

I don’t really think I need to explain my love of Star Wars. Because it is fecking STAR WARS!!! What is not to love!? And they have a wookie for fuck sakes! A WOOKIE!!!! When Mr. C and I have our Big Fat Geek Wedding next year, our emcee is even dressing up as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I should technically thank one of my sister’s, since she is the one who introduced me to all these movies and turned me into the movie buff that I am today.

So, what movies did you love growing up? 🙂

A Slight Delay

Standard

I was going to write my Fandom Friday post this afternoon. I even started it. But I just can’t finish it.

Once again I wake up finding myself sick.

The only thing I hate more then the snow right now is the never ending germs. (It would help if people stayed home when they were sick. Nothing like waxing someone’s eyebrows and have them cough and hack in your face.)

But anyway…

I want to wish you all a Happy Easter, and regardless if you celebrate it or not I hope that you have a great long weekend! 🙂

I plan to come back next week, good and healthy and ready to get my geek on! 🙂
