The awesomeness that is IGGPPC | Midget Bites

A few times now I have mentioned IGGPPC (International Geek Girl (or guy!) Penpal Club). One of my fellow Iggles and friends wrote this post, and I thought I would share. She explains it perfectly.

28 Days of Lists: Day 6

The theme over in House Organa today for our ’28 Days of Lists’ challenge is ‘Antidotes.’

This one is kinda perfect for today. I don’t usually do the greatest in the winter. Lack of sunshine and all the cold makes me want to hibernate until June. So I try to do thinks to perk me up. Here is my own personal antidotes for those blah days. (And I will be partaking in one or all this weekend.)

1-Chocolate. Because chocolate cures everything.

2- Movies. My fave movie since I was seven years old is ‘The Princess Bride’. Westly has been my favorite hero and leading man for 25 years. (If I ever met Cary Elwes I will cry. Just sayin’.)

as you wish

My favorite line of all time, which will one day be inked on my skin. *Credit to Google*

3-Iced Coffee. Even in the dead of winter, I have this almost every day.

4-Hugs from the future hubby.

Which one to choose next?

6-Music. I crave music especially on my walks and when I am feeling a bit off.

7-My walks. Which I am missing out on a lot due to the weather/icy sidewalks. But there is nothing better then getting out in the fresh air, tunes in my ears and zoning out.

This is from last year, but we have about the same amount today. This is the view nearby. I like taking pics while out on my walks, especially after storms.

8- Snuggling up with a furbaby or two.

9-Writing. If it is a letter, a journal entry or working on a story, writing is a great release and it has been my best form of personal therapy since I was a kid.

10-Sunshine. (Which I really hope shows up this weekend!)

So, what are ways you cheer up when having a bad day?

IGGPPC 28 Days of Lists: Day 3

I sat down here at my desk and began to write a letter to the lovely Rosa when I remembered that I hadn’t checked what topic was up next on my list.  For those of you that don’t know, IGGPPC is International Geek Girl (or guy!) Pen Pal Club. (By the way Rosa, don’t worry. I will be continuing your letter very shortly 😉 )

I wasn’t going to post today’s list, but I thought it was important. The topic? The things you would tell to your teen self.

I hated school until I hit tenth grade. I had been bullied and felt like an outsider. But even though I had hard times, I came out stronger on the other end. Added bonus: technology wasn’t how it is today. When I was picked on or bullied (thanks to the bitch-zilla in seventh grade). At least it was done at the end of the day. There was no cell phone to text hatred. No Facebook attacks.

So, things I would tell my teen self:

1- It’s ok to be yourself.

2- You are not a loser.

3-You are not worthless.

4-You really should break up with the guy you meet in tenth grade by year three, and not by the sixth. He’s a loser. You can do better.

5- Be your awesome geek self and tell the haters to kiss your ass.

6- Stop being afraid. Stand up for yourself. Find that voice.

7-Save up your money. Unless you are buying books. They are always the best investment.

What things could you wish you could tell your teen self?
